Bartley Secondary School has been excelling since its foundation in 1952, when the student roll included 81 boys and 10 girls. While the original idea was one of a co-educational school, it soon moved away from this concept and the girl students were transferred to an all-girls institution.
New Facilities at Bartley Secondary School
In 1992, Bartley Secondary School temporarily moved while new facilities were being built and finally moved into the new premises at 10 Jalan Bunga Rampai and started admitting female students once again. The new facilities were built with the intention of providing the students with the best possible educational options and allowing them to truly excel at academics and life. They include a dental clinic, a grander school hall, additional classrooms, as well as a library that even includes a café. Everything is truly set up in such a way that it allows the students to prosper and excel, at their maximum comfort and convenience. In 2009, Bartley was showcased in MOE’s annual school ranking exercise. A big segment of the success story was the fact that the student-teacher ratio is lower than most schools, allowing for teachers to dedicate attention and time to individual student needs.
Bartley Secondary School Normal Academic Courses
Bartley received the MOE Master Plan Award the following year, as well as Band 9 in Express and Band 5 in Normal Academics Courses at Bartley Secondary School. Students soon started to show their appreciation for the teachers and in 2011, class 2E2 was the winner for the Teachers’ Day Dedication with their messages being broadcasted on Channel 5. In 2014, Bartley decided to absorb the First Toa Payoh Secondary School, an institution with plentiful history and a great reputation. Two years later, the two schools merged and an exhibition with the intent to showcase the achievements of the First Toa Payoh Secondary School was set up.
Bartley Secondary School cares about its students and their achievements, working on providing them with plenty of opportunities to find themselves and explore their interests through signature programs of Chemical and Applied Sciences, Community Youth Leaderships, 7 Habits of Highly Effective Youths, Scholars Programme, SMILE and Student Leadership.
